Independent dMAT preparation

A flexible four-week dMAT study plan

Build a sustainable four-week routine using a baseline, topic methods, mental practice, timing and deliberate review.

On this page

Build the plan around available attention rather than a promised score. The schedule below assumes five sessions per week of about 35–45 minutes. It is an Aptitrail suggestion; adjust the workload to your starting point and application calendar.

Before the first week

Read the official instructions, watch the preparation videos and try the official demo where available. Then use the short diagnostic as a starting sample. Record one difficulty per topic and whether you used help. Because it reuses free-set questions, a later encounter with those items is revision.

Choose a notebook or simple log for study outside test rehearsal. Record a method, a mistake and a next action. Later sessions should increasingly use mental work: the official PDF does not permit notes during the examination.

Weeks 1 and 2: make methods reliable

Suggested learning schedule
WeekFocusEvidence to collect
1One session per topic, followed by a review sessionCan you explain a decisive step without reading the answer?
2Two sessions on the weakest method, one each on the other areasDoes the corrected method work on a different item?

Use learning mode during method development. In figures, name the separate transformations; in equations, explain which variable disappears; in Latin squares, justify a placement using row and column restrictions; in academic passages, state the model’s constraints.

Do not spend the whole week repeating questions you already remember. Recall is useful for review, but a remembered answer provides weak evidence that you can transfer the method.

Weeks 3 and 4: observe pacing and stabilise

Suggested later schedule
WeekFocusReview question
3Alternate careful learning sessions with custom timed topic practiceWhich errors appear only under time pressure?
4Revisit the error log, use fresh items where possible and rehearse the official interfaceCan you keep a method concise while checking its conditions?

After each timed attempt, review guessed answers as well as incorrect ones. Choose a single correction for the next session. If you become faster by skipping checks and make more errors, restore the checks before reducing time again.

If your calendar is shorter or longer

With one week, prioritise official instructions, one explained example in every area and a review of the two weakest methods. With more than four weeks, repeat the learning and transfer cycle using different items. Keep a rest day when attention becomes unreliable.

Recheck official date announcements before anchoring your calendar. No practice percentage establishes an official cutoff or guarantees an admission outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Can I practise without an account?

Yes. The free diagnostic and fixed 80-question catalogue need no sign-in or payment. An account lets you keep progress across registered browsers.

Are these official dMAT questions?

No. These are independently written practice exercises. Aptitrail is not affiliated with dMAT, g.a.s.t. or APS; practice scores do not predict official results.

Will I get new questions when I repeat a free set?

The free catalogue stays the same: 20 questions per topic. Repeating a set helps you review the method.

Where are my answers saved?

Practice saves to the server, with pending drafts in your browser. Look for “Server saved”. Return in the same browser to resume guest practice, or sign in to use your account.

How do I check premium access?

Open Account to see your access and exact expiry. Existing purchases continue when new purchases are paused. See pricing and access details.

Do I have to give feedback?

Never. Feedback is entirely optional and does not affect practice or access. No account, purchase or rating is required. If you choose to send feedback, an email address is required. Bug reports do not need an email address.
